Product Care
Each Atrani Studio piece is crafted with care and intention. Our jewelry is made from either 925 sterling silver or brass, both finished with a thick layer of 18k or 24k gold plating, depending on the design. To preserve the original appearance and extend the life of your jewelry, proper care is essential.
General Guidelines
- Always remove your jewelry before showering, swimming, sleeping, or exercising.
- Avoid contact with water, humidity, perfume, lotions, makeup, alcohol, hand sanitizers or other chemicals.
- Put on your jewelry last when getting dressed, and remove it first at the end of the day.
- Store pieces individually in a soft pouch or in the original Atrani Studio packaging, away from direct sunlight and heat.
- Keep jewelry dry. Moisture accelerates the natural wear of the gold layer.
Gold-Plated Sterling Silver
Sterling silver is a precious metal, and when plated in gold, it offers a warm, rich finish. However, even high-quality plating is delicate and may naturally fade over time, especially on pieces worn daily such as rings or bracelets. To care for gold-plated silver:
- Clean gently with a soft, dry cotton or microfiber cloth.
- Do not use silver polish or abrasive materials, as they may damage the gold layer.
- If your piece starts to oxidize slightly (a natural process), wipe it gently and store it in a dry, airtight pouch.
Gold-Plated Brass
Brass is durable and often used for statement or chunky designs. It's normal for brass to develop a patina or darken slightly with time, which gives each piece a unique character. To maintain its brightness:
- Wipe gently with a soft cloth after each wear to remove oils and residue.
- Never immerse brass pieces in water. Avoid humid environments like bathrooms.
- Use only dry cleaning methods. Liquid cleaners or polishing cloths with chemicals can strip the gold plating.
Quick Care Tip: Clean gently with the soft cloth provided, and store in the pouch included with your order. This simple routine will keep your jewelry looking beautiful for years.
What to Avoid
- Water and humidity (showers, pools, beaches, saunas)
- Perfumes, lotions, and cosmetics
- Household cleaning products
- Abrasive materials or polishing cloths with chemicals
- Sleeping or exercising while wearing jewelry
Important Notes
- Natural wear of gold plating is not considered a defect, but part of the life cycle of a plated piece.
- If you wear your jewelry every day, especially rings or bangles, the plating will fade faster. This is normal and depends on your skin's pH and habits.
- For pieces with sentimental value, we recommend removing them when washing hands or applying products.
- Each piece is designed to age beautifully, like memories. With proper care, they will remain radiant for years to come.
